Preservation kit for outboards
Preservation kit for outboards
Before installation, it is important to clean the engine's cooling system from salt, algae and chemicals to avoid corrosion damage. Before winter, it is also important to protect the cooling system with glycol to avoid frost damage. The so-called flush sleeves on the market require access to a hose with running water, and it is also tricky to get the glycol into the cooling system. This means that the need for an alternative product is great.
THE CONSERVATION KIT consists of: -1 pc specially made strong plastic bag 75 x 65 cm (width x height), which is -reusable and equipped with a drainage hole. -5 STRONG-GRIP aluminum clamps with roller bolt. -1 clamping stamp 1.5 m.
Proceed as follows: Disassemble the propeller. Seal the bag's drainage hole using a STRONG-GRIP whereby the plastic is rolled 2 turns around the roller bolt. Mount the bag as shown and fill with fresh water (or glycol mixture) from e.g. a bucket so that the cooling water intake is covered with a margin. The engine is started and allowed to idle (always follow the engine manufacturer's instructions). The liquid is now circulated through the cooling system in a natural way for the engine. It is important to check that the cooling water circulates and that the engine does not overheat during operation.
Empty the bag after driving (in a container to reuse any glycol mixture) by removing the STRONG-GRIP and opening the drainage hole.
The CONSERVATION KIT can also be used for short test runs of the engine on land.
As an added bonus, the included 5 STRONG-GRIPs can be put to much-needed use as attachment points on the tarpaulin for the boat's winter cover.
