Admiral Fitzroy's storm glass

Admiral Fitzroy's storm glass

Admiral Fitzroy (1805-1865) was an expert in navigation and meteorology like no other scientist of his time. Fitzroy could predict the weather for the next two days by changes in a liquid in a glass tube. A special mixture of water, alcohol and crystal salt in the glass tube was the secret behind his barometer. In good weather conditions, the liquid in the glass tube was clear, while it became cloudy when storms arose. The storm glass barometer we offer in this online store works on exactly the same principle. The elaborately crafted wooden stand is made of beech wood and elegantly stained in a mahogany tone. Next to the barometer, the stand also contains an accurate thermometer with a measuring range of -10 to 50 degrees Celsius. The dimensions of the Admiral Fitzroy storm glass are 465 x 115 millimeters. This instrument is a gift that you would really like to get yourself.
